Donneshia Edmond, MS, LPC

A Note To You,

I am here as your coach with the drive to help you embrace a life of self-love, inner peace, balance, empowerment, clarity, and confidence. What qualifies me to take this position with you? I have followed my heart and worked to accomplish education and training as a mental health counselor and coach (coaching psychology). I have worked to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a license as a resident in counseling. Significantly, my practice in my 12 + plus years working as a mental health counselor allows me the privilege to be here with you.

I deliver an integration of approaches and techniques that compliment one another and are proven to help, heal, and transform. Using a coaching approach that is motivating, person-centered, creative, mindful, emotionally focused, and solution-focused allows me to give you a personal experience that is flexible and varied. In addition, I am a professor of 6 years that has taught counseling, psychology, and nutrition. I mentored students to ensure their academic and career choices after me were clear and confident.

What has powerfully influenced me to create this space for you is sharing a space week after week with groups of women. I had the pleasure of coaching women from various backgrounds navigating life and self to transform their overall wellness. I helped women come into their true selves despite their level of adversity, intensity of emotions, distorted thinking, decisions made in the past or present, and other life circumstances. The impact of them telling their stories and putting things into action led me to create something that will encourage you to feel better and give light to your power and strength.

The groups focus on empowering woman to learn and grow into the belief they are not their problem or experiences. Weekly the women of the groups shared their stories openly. They told their thoughts, emotions, and did the work in between sessions. Women invited to the group were in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and my oldest group member being 64 years of age and whether they were established in their career or not, divorced, married, single, and mothers, they showed up.

The women either had a full story they continued to tell others and themselves or it was an emotion or thought they continued to hold on to and struggled to separate from. They came with failed relationships, grief or loss, having divorce, co-dependency, sadness, sleepless nights, feeling bullied, abandonment, depression, anxiety, and lack of self-worth. Regardless of their story they all wanted to be a better version of themselves.

It was time for them to re-author a life story from a place of self-love. They left the group sessions learning their story was their power. These women showed up and did the work to become an “Empowered Women Empowering Women”. I can help you acknowledge and accept the same!

I have prepared a safe place for you to self-love.

Having a story of what it feels like to become in touch with what self-love really feels like and how it reveals itself internally and externally is something I will share with you. Regardless of what may have come along, good, or bad, it led me to learn how to experience and confront feelings of fear, hurt, sadness, feeling stuck, and vulnerable. I knew I could not stay in what I now call negative-positives of emotions. I call them negative-positives because there is opportunity in these feelings. Negative emotions leave you with bad feelings and unhealthful perspectives. Yet, when processed and worked through healthily they turn out to be lessons (the positive). I took actions to nurture my circumstances, thoughts, decisions, and feelings, and transformed within. On this journey, I found what it truly meant to feel self-love.

Our goal together is to help you smile more inside and out, get unstuck, explore stories and experiences that seem to get in your way. Narrating into self-love is for you to learn the language to re-author your story with better insight and perspective, see your potential and gifts, embrace where you feel you fall short, still look to the future, and live your most fulfilling life with self, others, and the world.

Going into coaching is a vulnerable decision. There can be some hard truths but with my support I offer you a soft landing into something great within yourself. Just so you know, laughing and smiling is part of your experience with me as much as anything else offered to you. The courage to choose different and choose yourself is beautiful. This is a team effort and you are not expected to do life alone.

I look forward to meeting you,

Your Coach,

Donneshia
