Lets Talk Self -Love…

Narrating into SELF-LOVE is the telling of your story and then being able to re-author your thoughts and feelings with the intent to transition into a feeling and life story that is empowered, of resolve, and peace.

Why self-love is important…?

Self-love is important because…

  • self-love can say much to life satisfaction and your mental wellness.

  • self-love reveals how you give to and show up for yourself.

  • self-love impacts how you view the world and others, and

  • self-love influences your thought patterns (beliefs, values, mindsets) and behaviors (choices and decisions we make).

Specifically, self-love is important because it…

  • reduces stress.

  • increases inner peace.

  • motivates you to recognize your worth and make the best decision for you even when it is the most difficult.

  • gives you the confidence to assert yourself.

  • teaches you that one bad day does not have a say for the days ahead.

  • encourages you to see the opportunity in negative feelings and emotions.

  • allows you to filter out unnecessary “stuff” or tune out “noise” around you.

  • makes efforts to try again anyway.

  • creates opportunity for learning and growth, and

  • strengthens you to choose you first.

Narrating into SELF-LOVE is a coaching experience where at times you will hear the word chapter. For this experience chapters are the stories you tell and continue to tell yourself, others, or do not tell at all. You are the main character in these stories and then you have other characters which are those you share or do not share a relationship.

When stories are suppressed, when emotions and thoughts are not fully expressed, and constantly told the same way and with the same energy, you become tied to that story. Consequently, and depending on the story, you build an identity and life on a foundation that is consumed with themes you do not want. Themes can be guilt, shame, anger, low-self-esteem, self-sabotaging, and dishonesty, etc. Taking this, if given the homework right now to title one of your chapters or an experience, what will it be? Is it motivating? Is it grounding or of inner peace?

Life’s chapters can involve failed and unsatisfying relationships, anxiety, sadness, disappointment, trauma, stress, lack of confidence, lack of trust of self, and emptiness, etc. These circumstances provoke further outcomes such as feeling unappreciated and unloved, indecisiveness, living by someone else’s feelings and thoughts, trouble focusing on the positive, self-criticism, struggling with finding purpose, overthinking, and/or sometimes not knowing what you feel.

These themes should be recreated, re-purposed, and re-authored to create a story of hope, resilience, happiness, balance, truth, and self-love. Taking action and doing different to change these themes found in our stories leads to transforming your title to something motivating and positive.

What does self-love look like?

Self-love is not simply a feeling it is an act. Self-love is not simply an idea of self-care such as taking a bubble bath or reading a good book. If you look up the definition there is a general idea of self-love. Self-love is having high regard for your wellness and happiness.

Self-love is choosing you. Self-love is making intentional and essential space for yourself. Self-love is not living in a negative mindset. Self-love is positive self-talk. Self-love is believing you have power and using it to your advantage. Self-love is not selfish or narcissistic. Self-love is loving others and giving and treating yourself with the same amount of love. Self-love is not settling knowing you deserve more and better. Self-love is choosing different. Self-love is having a moment in life but still moving forward. Self-love is still building yourself during the most sensitive moments in life. Self-love is not waiting on others just for you to act. Self-love is asking questions. Self-love is saying no when needed and saying yes when necessary. Self-love is knowing the difference between an opportunity and sabotage. Self-love is being able to revert to your supports in the most vulnerable situations. Self-love is choosing to grow.

Self-love is flexible and forgiving. It can be defined and redefined. Self-love is a skill that is learned and practiced. I am here to coach you!
